Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 21, 2026

At Komride, your trust is the foundation of every ride we share. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our platform, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, mobile app, and all Komride services.

1. Information We Collect

Account details you provide when you sign up, such as your name, email address, phone number, gender, residential area, and profile photo.

Identity and vehicle information that drivers submit for verification, including government-issued ID, driver’s licence, vehicle model, colour, and plate number.

Trip and booking data, such as departure and destination locations, pickup stops, travel dates, seats booked, and ride history.

Payment information processed through our payment partner, Paystack. We receive confirmation of a successful or failed transaction and a payment reference, but we never store your full card number or CVV.

Safety data, including your safety code, the emergency contact or Safety Buddy you choose to nominate, and any danger alert you trigger.

Device and usage data, such as browser type, IP address, pages viewed, and interactions with the app, collected to keep the service secure and improve it.

2. How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your account, verify drivers, and confirm that passengers and drivers are who they say they are.

To match passengers with available rides, process bookings, and send trip reminders, booking updates, and subscription notices.

To process subscription and ride payments securely and to detect, prevent, and investigate fraudulent or abusive activity.

To operate safety features, including confirming safe arrival and alerting your nominated Safety Buddy if you enter your distress code.

To calculate ratings, reviews, earnings, and savings summaries shown in your dashboard.

To comply with legal obligations and enforce our community standards and terms of service.

3. When We Share Information

With other members, only as needed to complete a trip. Drivers see a passenger’s name, photo, and pickup details for a confirmed booking; passengers see a driver’s name, photo, rating, and vehicle details.

With your nominated Safety Buddy, but only when you confirm safe arrival or trigger a distress alert.

With service providers who help us operate, such as our payment processor and hosting and communication providers. They may only use the data to deliver their service to us.

With authorities, when required by law or when disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of our members or the public.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember your theme preference, and understand how the app is used so we can improve it.

You can clear cookies and local storage through your browser settings at any time. Some features, such as staying signed in, will stop working if you do.

5. How We Protect Your Data

Your data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored on access-controlled servers.

Access to personal records is restricted so that members can only see the information relevant to them, while administrative access is limited to authorised staff.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please keep your login credentials private and let us know immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.

6. How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your account and trip information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards, so we can meet legal, tax, accounting, and safety obligations.

When data is no longer needed, we delete it or remove the details that identify you.

7. Your Choices and Rights

You can review and update most of your personal details at any time from your Profile page.

You can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and associated personal data.

You can control trip reminder, booking, and subscription notifications from your profile settings.

You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data at any time using our account deletion request page, which you can reach from the link at the bottom of this page. You can also reach out to us through the Contact page, and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

8. Children’s Privacy

Komride is not intended for anyone under 18 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
